Meet Jacob D. Akers, MA, DDS, gMCP
Dr. Jacob Akers was not always fascinated with restoring smiles and teeth. Originally born in Colorado, his first love was flying where he obtained his private pilot license at the University of North Dakota Aerospace. Thereafter, he attended Gordon Conwell for graduate studies, obtaining a double Masters in both Clinical Counseling and Interpersonal Studies.
In 2016, Dr. Akers graduated with honors from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery (D.D.S.).
In 2017, Dr. Akers completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (A.E.G.D.) Residency in the Fayetteville, N.C. at the VA Medical Hospital. There, he learned complex dental procedures including implant placement, digital workflows using cone beam computed tomography (CBCT), full mouth rehabilitation, sedation, cosmetic work, laser dentistry, and advanced technology and imagery integration
In 2025, Dr. Akers completed the 1 year implant Master Clinician Program (gMCP) in Implantology with the Global Institute in Dental Education (gIDE) in Europe. He completed 300+ hours of education in guided bone regeneration, soft tissue grafting, cosmetic rehabilitation, and both guided and full arch surgical implant placement.
Dr. Akers currently serves as a Lieutenant Colonel, and Executive State Dental Officer, for the New Hampshire Army National Guard in Concord, NH. He and the staff are responsible for over 2,000 guardsmen statewide and their journey towards oral health. Dr. Akers is also a combat veteran having completed Army service in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Dr. Akers has over 800 hours in continued education focusing on Invisalign, facial esthetics, TMD treatment and Botox, top tier CBCT guided implant placement, and MDI supported dentures.
In his free time, Dr. Akers can be found outdoors with their dental therapy dog, Goose, or with Mercedes enjoying one of the many food establishments in Dover, NH. Both of their families are from Southern Maine area where his nine nieces and nephews currently reside. His other hobbies include traveling to “local spots” stateside and abroad, keeping up with his artsy and antique loving spouse, reading a good book, or simply enjoying a good tequila and sunset.
